Our packaging

We’re committed to making sustainability central to our business, and we’re continually striving to find ways to reduce our impact on the planet. It makes sense that we are exploring how to make packaging design choices that will help us reduce waste and lower our carbon footprint. Here are some ways that we are doing this.

Rethinking plastic
Our focus is on reducing our reliance on non-recyclable plastic materials and using more recycled plastic content where possible. We’re changing the way we think about plastic in our packaging.
Haircare that cares
2021 was a milestone year from a packaging perspective. We launched bottles and tubs for our body care ranges that were made from 100% recycled plastic, including recycled plastic from our Community Fair Trade partner, Plastics For Change.
By using Community Fair Trade recycled plastic in our packaging, we’re working with our partner, Plastics For Change, to help address the problem of plastic waste while supporting the communities who collect it.

Where possible, we are aiming to include the highest levels of post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, aluminium and glass in our packaging.
Many of our shower gel, body lotion, Body Butter, Body Yogurt and body scrub bottles and tubs are already made using 100% recycled plastic.*

We’re contributing to reducing existing waste while driving positive social change.
In 2019 we launched our Community Fair Trade partnership with Plastics For Change.
We source recycled plastic from Plastics For Change, who employ marginalised waste pickers in India to collect plastic waste, offering steady income and better working conditions in an informal sector that’s often volatile and discriminatory.
In our first year we purchased 200 tonnes of Community Fair Trade recycled plastic, which we used in shampoo and conditioner bottles. Since the start of our partnership with Plastics For Change, from 2019-2026 we have sourced around 3,280 metric tonnes of recycled plastic.
