Also wondering if one would be better than the other for reducing or preventing the appearance of stretch marks and scars

I use the body lotion as a full body moisturizer after each shower, I also use & love the body butter, but find it to tacky for a full moisturizer. It’s used multiple times/day as hand moisturizer and foot moisturizer ever cpl days. Both great products, used regularly but for diff purposes.

I like a body lotion better for daily use as it goes on smoother and my skin soaks it up. I love Body Butter after a really hot shower when I'm trying to really pamper my skin. I would use a body butter on stretch marks

Hi Pam182,
Thank you for your interest in The Body Shop's Shea Butter Nourishing Whipped Body Lotion. This body lotion is a lighter formula than the Shea Body Butter. The Shea Body Butter is thicker and takes longer to absorb into the skin. We recommend using the Body Butter if you're looking for something more moisturizing for dry skin. If you're looking for something lighter that will absorb quicker, then the whipped lotion is a good choice for you.
Hope this helps!

Hi, body butter is usually just thicker than lotion and may not soak in as quickly. This lotion is super nice tho, smells great and covers well. Both have Shea butter in them so either works well on dry skin, really just depends on your preference I think! As for scars, anything with vitamin e, Shea or coconut butter are said to work well, I like the butters only because they don’t soak in as fast. :)
