Community Trade was born from our founder Anita Roddick’s belief in trade not aid and a commitment to developing lasting relationships with communities from around the world. In 2016, we added one new ingredient to the programme and, having announced this and three more new ingredients in early 2017, we continue to be on the lookout for more! .

Enrich Our Planet: Fossil fuel-free packaging
Our global dependence on non-renewable resources is unsustainable. So to create a more sustainable future, The Body Shop wants to ensure 70% of product packaging does not contain fossil fuels by 2020. So far, all our clear plastic bottles have 25% recycled material.

Enrich Our Planet: Powering all stores with renewable energy
Ensuring 100% of our stores are powered by renewable energy is essential to limit our contribution to climate change and the level of greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere. By the end of 2016, 24% of our stores were running on renewable energy.
