WHAT IS COMBINATION SKIN?
Combination skin is simply having oily skin in some areas of your face and dry skin in others. HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE COMBINATION SKIN? Combination skin is usually characterized by an oily forehead, nose and chin and relatively dry cheeks. Having both oily and dry parts means you’ll find it difficult to find skincare products that are effective everywhere. You can tell if you have a combination skin if you have the following: • Dry, flaky patches on the cheeks • Enlarged pores, because they’re more open • Blackheads • Shiny skin
WHY DO I HAVE A COMBINATION SKIN?
A variety of factors can contribute to combination skin, but more often than not it simply comes down to genetics. Your skin type is something you’re born with and it’s unique to you. How to balance two different skin types – oily and dry - is easier than you might think. With the right skincare products, balance can be achieved. However, using the wrong types of skincare products can make it worse, making combination skin more of an issue. So best avoid products that stimulate the oily parts or dry out the already dry bits.
TIP 1: DON’T TOUCH YOUR FACE Combination skin should be treated as gently as possible, so avoid touching your face. Bacteria can build up on the hands and, if transferred to the face, can contribute to a build- up of oil and block the pores. Your skincare routine should be gentle and non-irritating, avoiding anything with any harsh or skin-aggravating ingredients.
TIP 2: USE A SKIN CARE ROUTINE FOR COMBINATION SKIN What’s best for combination skin? What’s certain is that your combination skin will be different to someone else’s combination skin, so the best thing is to choose a skincare routine that’s tailored to your needs. 1. Cleanse with the Seaweed Cleansing Gel Wash. 2. Rebalance skin with the Seaweed Oil Balancing Toner. 3. Apply a few drops of the Drops of Youth™ Youth Concentrate for fresher, bouncier, healthier-looking skin. 4. Moisturise and control shine during the day with the Seaweed Oil-Control Lotion SPF 15. 5. Boost your routine twice a week with the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask or Seaweed Oil Balancing Clay Mask.
TIP 3: MULTI MASKING If you have combination skin, using just one face mask may not be effective on the different areas of the face, so try the following combinations on your areas of concern: Use our Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask. to purify your T-zone and the Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask to energise the rest of your face. Both are ideal for a combination skin. Add in the Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask – it’s a nourishing and hydrating treat for drier skin. Try the Mediterranean Almond Milk with Oats Instant Soothing Mask. It gently exfoliates to leave skin feeling softer, smoother and recharged with moisture.
