HEALING HEARTS PROJECT

THE BODY SHOP X AUSTRALIAN CHILDHOOD FOUNDATION

The Body Shop has teamed up with Australian Childhood Foundation to bring love back to children affected by the trauma of abuse and violence.

The ‘Healing Hearts Project’ was created to fund a therapeutic doll program to help children heal and recover from trauma they’re experiencing. The program includes the creation of 400 therapeutic dolls to be used by professionals and carer’s in counselling sessions with children. The program will also provide 50 children with 200 additional counselling hours using the dolls, as well specialist training for 100 professionals to work with the dolls.

Thanks to you, at the completion of the project The Body Shop is proud to have raised $106,911 to support the therapeutic doll program.

THERAPEUTIC SENSORY DOLLS

The specialist dolls are used to help Australian Childhood Foundation counsellors explore the children’s senses and unlock the trauma held in their bodies. The dolls give children the chance to connect again with imagination and play to help them heal and recover.

At the Foundation, research has shown significant improvements in the functioning of children who have used the therapeutic dolls. All the children have reported an increased sense of being able to manage their stress levels across home, school and in social situations.
