Honey
Our Community Trade honey is sustainably sourced from Beza Mar in Ethiopia. It comes from the UNESCO Sheka Forest Biosphere Reserve, where we’ve worked with the ‘bee whisperers’ of Beza Mar since 2009. They’re a cooperative dedicated to improving the livelihood of beekeeping communities and maintaining their traditional techniques. The beekeepers gently blow clouds of smoke into the hives to collect the distinctively floral, richly moisturising honeycombs, which are made from the golden nectar of wild flowers found in the Afromontane rainforest. Our trade helps support the sustainable use of these forests by providing a steady income for locals and empowering them to preserve wild African bees, which are vital to our planet.
