    • ALOE VERA

Our Community Fair Trade organic aloe vera comes from Guatemala. The aloe leaves are hand-harvested, hand-washed and hand-filleted within 12 hours to preserve the freshness of the gel. Our trade generates vital income for the farmers of the El Progreso region and has helped to supply educational materials to over 100 schools. To find out more, visit our Community Fair Trade section.

    • BABASSU OIL

Our Community Fair Trade organic babassu oil comes from Brazil. The ‘babassu breakers’ of Maranhão gather and hand-crack babassu nuts, which are cold-pressed to extract the oil. Our trade gives the members of the COPPALJ co-op a steady source of income. It also helps to stop the felling of babassu palms, safeguarding the forests and helping to preserve the area’s wildlife. To find out more, visit our Community Fair Trade section.

    • BRAZIL NUT OIL

Our Community Fair Trade Brazil nut oil comes from the Candela co-op in Peru. The ‘castaneros’ or nut gatherers collect the broken nuts that can’t be sold for food use and hand-crack them to extract the oil. Trade has helped to protect 3,000 hectares of rainforest in the Madre de Dios region. Sustainable harvesting also helps to support the indigenous species that depend on the Brazil nut tree, such as the orchid bee. To find out more, visit our Community Fair Trade section.

    • COCOA BUTTER

Our Community Fair Trade cocoa butter comes from Kuapa Kokoo in Ghana. Cocoa pods are hand-harvested and the beans are extracted, sun-dried, ground and pressed into butter. With over 50,000 small-scale farmers, Kuapa Kokoo is one of the biggest fair trade co-ops in the world. Our trade has helped to fund education and medicine for members and their families. For more information, visit our Community Fair Trade section.

    • SHEA BUTTER

Our Community Fair Trade shea butter comes from Ghana. Local women hand-harvest shea nuts, dry them in the sun and crack them to extract the kernels. These are roasted and ground into a paste to make the butter. Our trade with the Tungteiya Women’s Shea Butter Association has helped to fund three medical centres and 10 nursery schools.
